Iran’s ‘Slaughter’ to vie at Media filmfest

The Media filmfest in US is to screen Iranian short ‘Slaughter’.

The Media Film Festival (MFF) in the US is scheduled to host award-winning Iranian short film ‘Slaughter’.

Co-directed by Ako Zand-Karimi and Saman Hosseinpour, the social flick has joined the competition program of the American event’s 14th edition.

‘Slaughter’ narrates the story of a small village family whose life depends on their one and only cow. They are in fact very fond of the animal; however, it must be sold to help the family live through a rough winter.

The family’s son, saddened by this decision, lets the cow escape to prevent its dark destiny.

The short title was internationally premiered at the 2018 Early Bird International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria.

It has also been screened at various global events, including the Lecce Film Festival in Italy, the International Student Film and Video Festival in China, the International Independent Film Festival-Publicystyka in Poland and the Film Fest Sundsvall in Sweden.

The film has won various awards from the festivals it took part in, some of which are the best short film at the Mareta Film Festival in Italy, the best short film at the Int’l Independent Film Festival-Publicystyka in Poland and the best screenplay at the Parma Music Film Festival in Italy.

According to the official website of the MFF, this year’s edition of the fest will be showcasing both its 2020 and 2021 officially selected works. The total number of the films will be 90 which will come from around the world.

The event is slated for April 9-18 at Arasapha Farms in the US.
